Robert Hislope

Robert Hislope is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. His research interests include comparative ethnic and racial politics, and political corruption. He has a particular interest in Macedonia, and since 2000 has traveled extensively throughout the country, examining the interactions between ethnic politics, organized crime, and government stability.

Hislope is author of "Crime and Honor in a Weak State: Paramilitary Forces and Violence in Macedonia," in Problems of Post-Communism (May/June 2004), "Between a Bad Peace and a Good War: Insights and Lessons from the Almost-war in Macedonia" in Ethnic and Racial Studies (Jan. 2003), and "Organized Crime in a Disorganized State" in Problems of Post-Communism (May/June 2002).

Hislope received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1995.
