Catherine Weaver is assistant professor of international relations at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and research coordinator for the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law at the University of Texas. Her research and teaching focuses on international organizations, international political economy and development, with a particular focus on the politics and reform of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Weaver's book, Hypocrisy Trap: The World Bank and the Poverty of Reform, was published by Princeton University Press in November 2008.  In 2009, Hypocrisy Trap received both the Chadwick Alger Prize for best book on International Organizations and Multilateralism from the International Studies Association and the Harold D. Lasswell Prize from the Society of Policy Scientists.  

In addition to several book chapters, Weaver has published articles in Global Governance, Journal of International Relations & Development, Brown Journal of World Affairs, Review of International Political Economy, and New Political Economy.

She is also the co-editor or co-author of three books in progress, The Politics of International Organizations: Bridging the Rationalist-Constructivist Divide (with Alexander Thompson and Michael J. Tierney), International Political Economy and the Transatlantic Divide (with Nicola Phillips), and Theory and Practice of International Organizations (with Michael Lipson and Michael Mosser).

Weaver serves as a co-editor at Review of International Political Economy, and serves on the editorial advisory boards for the journal Poverty and Public Policy, the New Millennium Books Series of Rowman & Littlefield Press, and the Routledge/University of Warwick Studies in Globalisation book series.

Currently, she is a core researcher in the University of Texas Strauss Center's Program on Climate Change and Political Stability in Africa (CCAPS), funded by the U.S. Department of Defense Minerva Initiative. Weaver is also working on a new book called The Paradox of Accountability: Transparency, Evaluation, and the IO Learning Curve.

Weaver received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003. From 2001-02, she was a Brookings Research Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., and from 2002-08 an assistant professor of political science at the University of Kansas.
