Of all the activities it supports, perhaps the Mershon Center is best known for its large array of events. These include lectures by distinguished scholars, interdisciplinary conferences and workshops, and seminars for graduate and undergraduate students.

Ambassador Mark P. Lagon, gave a presentation on "The Crucial Role of Civil Society in Fighting Human Trafficking: As Much in America as the World" as part of the Mershon Center and Slavic Center Panel on Human Trafficking held January 12, 2010. Lagon is executive director and CEO of the Polaris Project, a leading anti-human trafficking nonprofit organization.
