Robert Matina is a third year Ph.D. student in the OSU History Department. His research focuses on the destruction of cultural heritage in the First World War and the reaction to violence against monuments, churches, and cultural objects. Further, he is interested in how the strong objections throughout the international community to violence against cultural heritage helped to reshape international law in the postwar years vis-à-vis the protection of cultural heritage.
