Ph.D. Candidate, Political Science
Gabriel Gorre is a PhD candidate in Political Theory and International Relations with research interests in critical political economy, transnational hegemony, and the role of hope in sociopolitical change. His dissertation argues that a counter-hegemonic movement that challenges both the logic of global capital and its enforcement through the nation-state proves far likelier to succeed than nationally-oriented efforts to transform world order. Through a mixture of relational interviews of rank-and-file members of labor movements, sensitized readings of archival documents, and dialectical analyses of earlier failed counter-hegemonic efforts, this dissertation builds a grounded and engaged theory of counter-hegemony that advances a transnational syndicalist federation as the most promising path towards an emancipatory tomorrow.
Gabriel holds a B.A. in Science, Technology, and International Relations and a Certificate in Diplomatic Studies from Georgetown University and a M.A. in Political Science from George Washington University. In the 2025-26 academic year, Gabriel taught Intro to Political Theory (POLITSCI 2300).
