My research interests surround mass violence, particularly the prevention, prediction, and legal aftermath of hate crimes on both a national and global scale. Within the context of the United States, I am interested in hate crimes that target racial and sexual minorities. Much of my work on this topic has surrounded right wing extremist groups use of social media and the rise of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Globally, my research interests focus on rhetoric, collective memory, and mental health after mass atrocities. Regarding ongoing violent international conflicts, my research has focused on the persecution of the Rohingya in Myanmar, and the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, my work on collective memory has focused on the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and the Bosnian War.

In my free time I enjoy traveling and hiking with my husband, as well as doing yoga, gardening, and playing with our great danes and corgi.
