LTC Justine Meberg is Assistant Professor, Deputy Director of the Digital History Center, and HWS Faculty Development Liaison History & War Studies at West Point. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up across the globe, including years spent living in the Ivory Coast, France, and Venezuela. She deployed to Iraq as a platoon leader, commanded two companies, and has served in staff positions including S2, S4, Aide-de-Camp, and BDE S3 across. Her first book, Protecting Women: US Army Culture in the Second US-Seminole War and the US-Mexican War won the James H. Broussard Best First Book Prize from the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic.
Meberg has a Ph.D. in United States History from Columbia University, where her dissertation won the Bancroft Dissertation Award. She also has a Masters of Operational Science from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, an M. Phil and M.A. in United States History from Columbia University, and a B.Sc. in Comparative Politics and Economics from the United States Military Academy. She is a dual-military officer with two children and two dogs.
