As a condition of European Union accession, Albania has been undergoing comprehensive judicial reform since 2016. Anthropologist Smoki Musaraj offers a courtroom-level view of new independent commissions and their international monitors. 

Smoki Musaraj is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Ohio University and author of Tales from Albarado: Ponzi Logics of Accumulation in Postsocialist Albania (Cornell UP 2020).
