Please join Dr. Nadia Schadlow for a look at how the 2017 National Security Strategy was developed. As the former Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategy, Dr. Schadlow was the architect of that strategy, which was the first since the end of the Cold War to identify the return of great power rivalry as a central feature of global geopolitics. Prior to her most recent government service she served as a senior program officer at the Smith Richardson Foundation, where she focused on cultivating and investing in research and policy solutions to improve the security and strategic competitiveness of the United States. Her book, War and the Art of Governance, was named to the 2020 US Special Operations Command Commander’s Reading List. Her writings have also appeared in Foreign Affairs, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, The Hill, The Washington Examiner, and other publications. Dr. Schadlow received a B.A. degree Cornell University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She is currently a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute and a Visiting Fellow at MITRE.
