Honoring Bear Braumoeller

In loving memory of Bear Braumoeller

The Mershon Center for International Security Studies mourns the loss of our esteemed colleague, Bear Braumoeller, who passed away on May 3, 2023, in Oslo, Norway, after a sudden, brief illness. A dedicated scholar and compassionate individual, Bear's contributions to the field of international conflict and computational social science were truly remarkable. As a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, founder and director of the MESO Research Lab, and author of award-winning books, Bear's work has left a lasting impact on the academic community. Beyond his professional achievements, Bear was known for his warmth, gentle nature, and passion for life.
