William Favell is a Mershon Center Postdoctoral Scholar. He received his Ph.D. from Washington State University in 2025. His dissertation involved fieldwork in Northern Ghana and explored Bridge or Barrier? Foreign Aid Initiatives in Africa. He is also a Civil War Paths Fellow at the Centre for the Comparative Study of Civil War, University of York, UK and was previously a predoctoral visiting fellow at The Institute for Security and Conflict Studies (ISCS), The Elliott School, George Washington University (GWU).
