Mershon Visiting Fellow Eda Ayaydin

Eda Ayadin

Dr. Eda Ayaydin is a postdoctoral visiting fellow who is joining us at the Mershon Center this summer.

Dr. Ayaydin is a political scientist specializing in Arctic geopolitics, with a particular interest in questions of sovereignty, identity, and international cooperation. Her recent work examines the performative dimensions of sovereignty, especially in the context of Norway–Russia relations, and she is also investigating how non-Arctic actors engage with Arctic governance. Based in Paris, she is a teaching fellow at the University of London Institute in Paris, a researcher at the Jean Malaurie Institute of Arctic Research, and a fellow of both the International Arctic Science Committee and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

While at Ohio State, Dr. Ayaydin will work with Alexander Wendt, Ralph D. Mershon Professor of International Security, on her monograph entitled “Performing and Reconstructing Sovereignty: Norwegian-Russian Relations in Contemporary Arctic Geopolitics” and exchange insights on international theory and geopolitics. She will also further develop her research in social constructivist approach, examining the intersections of sovereignty, cooperation, and the roles of various actors in both International Relations and the Arctic region.
